Power and importance of the U.S.

The influence of the United States during this century is likely to decrease. A government report in Washington says that unstable international relations caused by decrease in American influence, increased demand in scarce natural resources and distribution of political power will reduce the power that America currently posses. The report, Global Trends 2025 A Transformed World, by National Intelligence Council notes that the current international system which was drafted after the Second World War will be irrelevant by 2025 (Josef, 1992). This will be as a result of emerging super powers, globalization of the economy, transfer of wealth from West to East and the increasing role of developing economies.

Moreover, a spontaneous shift of manufacturing and other industries to Asia coupled with rise in oil and product prices will result to immense transfer of power and international wealth to the East. Despite the forecasted decline in Americas power and importance, its problems will not (Harrison, 2007). However, the U.S. will continue to act as a stabilizing factor in Asia and the Middle East.

China is expected to mussel a lot of influence from the U.S. and occupy the second position as the worlds largest economy. Recently, Beijing has identified Africa as a strategic and resourceful investment partner. To add on, U.S. is finding that its need for a democratic law abiding Africa and a free market region is being challenged by china Moreover china is expected to become the greatest polluter and the highest natural resource importer. Moreover, countries like India, Iran and Turkey are projected to increase production in consumer oriented American goods to the ever increasing world population (Kaplan, 2002). In conclusion, increasing role of emerging super powers in trade, politics, diplomatic and military missions will surely reduce Americas power and importance.
