Strategic Planning

Strategic Planning is the core of any business. It is the overall planning of facilitating the good management of a process by providing a big picture of where the business is heading towards. (Janet S.,n.d.) Planning is important in any organization as it enables to define objectives and assess both internal and external situations to formulate strategy, implementation and progress of the strategy. The statements of senior physician that the expenditure to establish two new care satellites is a foolish one and the present situation did not require any such investments because the organization was already making good profits.

The views expressed by senior physician would be considered as barrier to the process of strategic planning because there should be a desire to innovate something new and to do different things or do the same things differently so that the organizations stand apart from its rivals. Jeff Hiatt (1999) states that lack of desire and motivation are the barriers in the strategic planning process. Strategic planning is an essential for any business organization as it lays the roadmap for the next five to ten years. Strategic planning should not be impeded by previous positive growth rate of the organization. The management of the organization must always strive hard to formulate strategies on a long term basis rather than short term strategy.
