Career Development Plan

Following the merger of InterClean and EnviroTech companies, InterClean now intends to provide cleaning solutions on full time basis to health organizations as well as cleaning products. In order for the sales team to be successful, a specialized development plan will be employed. Following the information that I have carefully evaluated, we will create a sales team consisting of seven members, five of whom will be recruited internally with the other two being externally recruited. The five sales team members whom I have selected have intensive knowledge on the sales work as well as the products of the company as well as the procedures and policies in operations in InterClean Company. They also have in-depth knowledge on our existing markets and this is essential in strengthening our products base. The main aim of externally selecting two members is to bring in a refreshing in our sales team as well as help in generating new ideas while helping our tour team on forward thinking. While choosing the new members, performance methods will be employed as a form of job analysis. Performance methods will give us a chance to improve and broaden the practices of interviewing as well as training for current and new employees. Also, this will also help in performance appraisal systems restructuring.

In order to ensure that only highly qualified and right persons are selected to the company, I will employ specific job analysis to make sure that they fully understands the roles and duties of every position. Some of the methods I will use for job analysis purposes will include structured questionnaires, training, job performance and observation. By observing the daily activities of current sales representatives, I will be able to better understand what each and every position entails. Structured questionnaires will be administered to solicit further information pertaining to skills and knowledge required as well as the tasks and behaviors necessary to carry out such tasks. Interviews will also be conducted to ensure that employees recruited have the right qualities and skills for performing different sales tasks. The job analysis will focus on improving services and solutions vital in streamlining our cleaning, ensuring environmental safety and providing quality services to all our customers. This will thus require highly qualified sales persons. Some of the considerations while conducting the job analysis will be good defined knowledge on sanitation and industrial cleaning. Language-potential candidates must be in a position to communicate well with the customers, customer service skills must be excellent, and an individual must be highly conversant with the products and services we offer and have excellent negotiation skills.

A workforce plan will help in assessing the current talentskills inventory and help in forecasting current and future needs for relevant skills to help InterClean Company achieve its goals and objectives. To do this, the sales team will assess or forecast the necessary skills and number of people required to ensure the success of the company and this will be compared with the workforce available and future needs in order to assess the future needs not currently met. In line with this, the sales team will come up with a budget projection for the first six months after which the progress of this team will be evaluated.  Workforce plan will also help in determining the number of people who need to be recruited, compensation and classification, career development and training needs, retention and performance management needs (Hall, 1986).
